She becomes one of the POV characters in Madwomen in Book Two.
Appearance
Seraphina is a woman of short stature. She has short and blunt black hair with dark red tips. She is usually seen wearing patterned dresses. She wears reading glasses. She also wears various accessories such as gold hoop earrings or silver necklaces.
Personality
Seraphina is known as a woman of great intelligence. Most look up to her as a woman of many talents, though somewhat eccentric due to her extreme passion for the sciences. Despite her eccentricities, she’s respected by the council.
Beneath everything, Seraphina holds great yearning for great power— not to wield it, but to study it. Her almost one-minded pursuit for knowledge frequently lands her in trouble due to her poor sense of self-preservation. She sees her life as something she’s willing to trade if it meant she could change the world with her discovery.
As the eldest of three siblings, Seraphina is kind and considerate. She’d mimic her mother’s behavior and would act sweet and nurturing to her younger siblings. Though her siblings feel embarrassed over her behavior more times than not, Seraphina prefers to continue her almost-motherly behavior towards them. Seraphina is described to love most freely, and is unashamed to speak of her affections.
As a noblewoman, Seraphina dislikes putting on airs in order to get what she wants. She prefers to keep herself genuine, which works against her more often than not. Her honest nature frequently makes her easy to read and thus easy to please. Due to this, most see her as someone easy to manipulate and control, though it is a sentiment Seraphina prefers to not believe.
Seraphina has a nearly-morbid curiosity for magical beings. Her questions towards nonhumans border on insensitive and are often stated in an uncaring and methodical way. Her attitude towards nonhumans causes many to dislike speaking to her. Additionally, her attitude has gained her a less-than-pleasant reputation in nonhuman circles.
History
Background
Seraphina, the eldest daughter to Elisabeth and Marin Hollinse, was greatly spoiled as a girl. Her mother called her the light of Hollinses. And when Seraphina grew to reading age, she quickly proved herself to be bright; she took up scholarly pursuits for a hobby.
With her intelligence and high parentage, Seraphina garnered attention throughout the realm. Though she was flattered by the praise, Seraphina never served the interests of the public. She’d only pursue what she was interested in. Despite her personal goals of only satisfying her curiosity, her contributions to Vohella’s libraries were immense.
Her wit and personality caught the attention of the young Lord Constantine Sanguinoso. After an extended courting over the span of a year and a half, Seraphina took on Lord Sanguinoso as a lover.
